The time for another Salt Lake Comic Con is approaching and I for one am very excited about it. This year they are going to be holding it September 21-23 2017. I remember when they first started doing these and how I finally had a place to experience what other cons around the world had to offer. I could never find the time to travel to comic con around the country and having one in my backyard just made a long time goal a reality.
As you know my first love in entertainment is movies and more movies. I love to watch them, I love to make them and I love to watch them being made by professionals. I have been lucky enough to be on set of many great movies and met with many fun celebrities, who always turn out to be awesome in person. The Salt Lake Comic Con is now giving that opportunity to many by bridging the gap between the fans and the stars. This year seems like another big event with some great guest showing up to party with the rest of us. If you happen to be in the area and want to check it out, you will meet celebrities like Val Kilmer.
Val as you know has been in movies like Tombstone, Top Gun and Batman Forever. My favorite of his movies has to be “The Saint“. You guys remember that one? I think he had a blast making that movie, with his many characters and voices. You can almost say he was cos playing through out the whole movie. He has not done much in the movie world recently but he is found online using his social media sites like twitter and Instagram. He remains very active with his fans and also does in person appearances like the Salt Lake Comic con and other cons around country. Most recently Val was in Tuscon for their yearly bash about Tombstone where of course Val was present for wearing a nice cowboy hat doing his part to recognize the event. I personally like Val Kilmer and look forward to seeing him in Salt Lake, maybe even be lucky enough to score an interview for you all to be a part of.
Probably one of the coolest things we have seen at the Salt Lake Comic Con was to have Stan Lee there. Not only did he spend time with his fans, but to praise the Salt Lake Comic Con as “the greatest comic con in the world“. Well, how is that for a stamp of approval, from the comic book king himself. That really boosted things for the Salt Lake Comic Con. The guy has got some serious energy to still be making the rounds and doing cameo roles for Marvel movies. He was scheduled to be a the con last year but because of health reasons he didn’t make it for another visit. He did however, not disappoint his fans and did a Skype call to the convention hall, really cool guy. Stan Lee has now announced that he will not be making anymore appearances and I don’t blame him, the man is about to hit 100 years old, well in about 5 years time, but still he is up there! Keep going strong Stan we love the enthusiasm you bring to this geeky world we live in!
Aside from the many movie and television celebrities you will run into, you will also find local artist, comic book creators and artist from around the world joining to showcase their work. The amount of talent that we are offered an opportunity to meet and see their creations, is just amazing. I promise you will find everything you would ever look for at a comic con. They bring in only the best talent. You will also find authors to many of the well know book series out there today, get pictures and autographs as well, which is probably one of the biggest highlight of the Salt Lake Comic Con, being able to have a memory with those that you love. If you want a complete list of all the activities or guests coming, check out their website for more info at www.saltlakecomicon.com.
I will do my part this year and bring what interviews, pictures, video or what ever I can get my hands on and report the good times I am going to have this year. If you are in the area look me up and we can stalk these guys together, or not that would be creepy. The stalking. I look forward to the growth the Sale Lake Comic Con will have and someday we will previewing big Hollywood movies and first showings here instead of “other” cons around the world. That my friends is a very near future I am sure and can’t wait.
