This was an interesting movie and I thought I wouldn’t like it, but after watching it I guess I did. First off the things I liked about the movie were the effects, the action was great and although there were spots where I needed to make sure I was paying attention the story was told well. I had a good idea of what this movie was about and thought I would like it. It started a little slow for me and there was some getting into it before I was sucked in, but not long, this wasn’t one of those movies that took for ever to get to the point, in fact this one started off with a kill, so not to slow.
I want to talk about the effects real quick, Joseph Gordon-Leavitt, Joe for short played a younger version of Bruce Willis and whose name in the movie was Joe. I love how Joe the younger was able to pull off Bruce Willis mannerism and his facial expression were the best to watch. It felt like watching a younger Bruce Willis on screen, they did a great job with the makeup and effects to make him look like that. He had a lot of little things down that sold you on the fact that were watching a younger Bruce Willis on screen with the older Bruce. Joe really studied Bruce to get it right and he did and I loved it.
i was a little lost half way through the movie, but that might of been me not paying attention, and the movie was able to clarify my confusion so it does a great job telling a story that is interesting and you want to know more about. The actors did a great job and I was convinced of everyones role in the movie and I was that much more invested in the characters and the movie.
Without giving anything away about the ending or major plot lines of the movie, all in all I thought it was told great and the story caught my attention, the actors made their characters come alive, so I enjoyed their performances and I got an ending that felt right for the movie and doesn’t disappoint.
I have to admit that I had a hard time knowing who to root for in the movie and that made this so much fun for me. I always feel like in movies like this there is a villain and a good guy and just when I thought I knew who those two were I get something else that happens and then I feel like I should root for someone else. I recommend you give this a watch, it is rated R for violence and a lot of swearing. I don’t like that to begin with so I used a service to help me edit out those parts and I was able to enjoy the movie just fine. The link will be below if you are interested.
