Knight and Day was one of those movies that people I think were having a hard time wondering if they should “like it” or “what would people think if they found out I liked it because of Crazy Tom?”. I am here to tell you from the start that regardless of how crazy Tom is or what he looks like jumping on a couch on Oprah, I really enjoyed this movie. From the moment I saw the trailer I knew this was going to be a movie that I was looking forward too. Now more about my review of the Blu-Ray version of the movie. The biggest reason why I en joy movies like Knight and Day and why I don’t mind Tom Cruise, he is a good actor. I love action movies that can balance the Comedy and the Action and make it a fun ride. I especially like the lead actor to take over the movie the way he should and by that I mean doing his own stunts. Sure stunt work is hard and dangerous and you would never think of putting your “money maker” in harms way. Tom has this attitude that he needs to be in the action and that by him doing his own stunts gets the audience into the movie more, I agree! If you are like me when spending money on a DVD or Blu-Ray as it is becoming now, you either decide how much you want to spend on the movie. Do you buy the version with just the movie or do you buy the one that comes with 8 hours of special features and digital copy etc… I love the behind the scenes and special features. The Knight and Day Blu-Ray version has the 3 disc option where you get all of that to take care of those “extras” need.
You will find some great behind the scenes action, stunt work and interviews. You learn a lot about what was done to get the movie off the ground, a look at the scoring of the soundtrack and a lot of stunt work done on the movie. Again I like that part and seeing that made was quite entertaining. I want to go back to why I liked the movie and Tom in the lead. I loved the camera work that was done on the movie and how you follow Tom in his stunt work not buts during and you get to see a lot of that work in the special features section. Some behind the scene footage that they give you on these disc is fun but many of them don’t give you content like you do with Knight and Day. There is a section of the disc that has a pretty extensive look at the relationship that Tom and the studios made in courting The Black Eye Peas to score the main movie theme. That may not interest you but if you are a fan you will appreciate the effort made in order to have them do the music for the movie and that makes it cool for a die hard fan. If you followed any of the promotional material that was used to promote the movie before it hit theaters, that is all in there as well. The stuff that most of us didn’t see in theaters are the deleted scenes, the stuff that just ended up on the editing floor. The final piece of this version of the movie is that Hollywood is giving you a digital copy of the movie to put on your laptop or for those of you that own a portable player (iPods, iPhone or iPad). The digital version makes it easy to retrieve, my 8 year old can get the digital copy downloaded, follow the simple steps that is provided and you have a copy to carry around. All in all the Knight and Day Blu-Ray 3 disc version has hours of goodies and extras and not to mention the high quality picture for those that watch movies on HD plasma screens. I would recommend the movie and the Blu-Ray version as a must buy to have on the shelf for those nights when TV shows are lame or reruns. Just pop in a little Knight and Day or get those extras going and make it a (K)night!
