Trying to review Interstellar is like trying to make sense of what was going on in the movie. I don’t think this is going to be a bad review of the movie, but it will be hard to explain why I liked it. That may or may not be a good thing? Depends on what type of person you are and if you see this as a negative review. The first time I watched it was in IMAX and the scope of this movie with the visual deserved that type of viewing. Just off of that I was into the movie, but let me start at the beginning, if you have been curious about this movie just read on. 
The biggest issue I had with the movie was the slow pacing of the story telling, and how deep the thoughts are in the movie. This is not a big deal, but I kept wondering when we would get to the spectacular visuals and action scenes of the movie. The trailer gave this epic journey and story that we would see, which it does get into that and we do get the visuals that needed to be seen on an IMAX screen.
Leading up to that was just slow and a lot of serious acting that felt like it dragged on, I get it now and it was important to see that and now I understand why they took the route that was taken. This is a movie that you have to watch more than once to understand and although that is a sad thought since you should get it by watching it once, it does deserve a second look. It will turn off people from the initial viewing of the movie because of what happens and it needs that second look.
Trust me, I know this is not sounding like a ringing endorsement for the movie, but I want to give you my first reaction and still telling you to go watch it. Once you get into space which doesn’t take that long, you start experiencing the movie for what you cam for, the visuals and the music created by Hans Zimmer, bring this movie to life, the story makes sense and easy to follow why they do what they do and although the science of the movie is as accurate as it can be there are things we cannot accomplish with today’s technology.
The acting is great, very believable and suck you into their emotions which is what did it for me. I love to feel the action, or the feelings the characters are going through which makes a movie fun for me as well. This is a more dramatic movie than what I was led to think based on the trailers, but everything was done just right, because they found the right cast for the roles and music was so powerful for every scene.
Don’t go into this movie with the thought, oh that can’t happen or no way this is real, but go and explore the movie through the characters eyes and experience what they are going through, that is what I liked about the movie, there are some tense moments and happy moments and you feel that if you let yourself go. I hope you understand how I saw this movie and how I see every movie, I go to get entertained and for what the movie is, everything else will take care of itself. Now there are movies where this will not even help as much as you try, this you will and come to love space travel even more.
